Looking for a Wirral temporary GP while you’re staying locally? West Wirral Group Practice welcomes temporary residents for short-term NHS care.  Our custom built medical centre has large on-site parking and an on-site pharmacy. Our team consists of 11 GP partners, salaried GPs, nurses, physicians assistants and healthcare assistants.


Who can register as a temporary patient?

You can register as a temporary resident for up to 3 months if you’ll be in our area for more than 24 hours but less than 3 months. After 3 months, you can re-apply as a temporary patient or consider registering permanently.

How to register (step-by-step)

  1. Complete the Temporary Resident (GMS3) form.

  2. Bring the form to Reception (or ask us for a copy when you arrive). You can also email the form into the practice at cmicb-wi.wwgp@nhs.net

  3. Book your appointment. We’ll triage your request and offer the most appropriate clinician or service.

  4. Attend with useful info (if you have it): current medications, allergies, key medical history, and your home GP’s details.


What you can access as a temporary patient

  • Assessment and treatment for new or ongoing problems

  • Prescriptions and medication reviews where appropriate

  • Referrals and tests, when clinically indicated

We’ll return your visit summary to your registered practice to keep your main record up to date.

I’m visiting from abroad—can I register?
Yes. Visitors can register as temporary residents for short stays. Entitlement to some services may vary; see the NHS guidance for visitors.

Do I need ID or proof of address?
No—GPs should not refuse registration if you do not have ID. It can still be helpful to bring ID and your NHS number if you know it.
